Anaheim Child-Involved Hit & Run - April 30th, 2017
(OC REGISTER) - A 29-year-old man ran away from the scene of a rollover crash early Sunday, April 30, leaving behind his 10-year-old stepson, according to the Anaheim Police Department.
The driver was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed when he hit a parked car in the 2000 block of East Coronet Avenue at 12:35 a.m., said Anaheim Police Sgt. Darren Wyatt.
The man left the child, who was uninjured, inside the upside-down car, Wyatt said.
Police apprehended the boy’s stepfather, an Anaheim resident, two blocks away. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, hit and run and child endangerment, Wyatt said. His identity has not been released.
Bystanders at the scene comforted the boy, who later was released to his mother, Wyatt said.
