Fatality Vehicle Fire at the NB I5 Jamboree Onramp - August 8th, 2016
Photos from a multi-vehicle car collision and resulting fully involved vehicle fire. Based on preliminary reports and witness interviews, a White Panel Van (possibly a Chevy) rear-ended an SUV resulting actually pancaking itself on top of the other vehicle. According to witness reports, other vehicles resultantly collided with the SUV and Panel Van which then spontaneously combusted.
Victims were reported trapped and at least one victim succumbed to his injuries before being transported, another victim, a 51 year old male, was transported Code 3 in critical condition with 90% 2nd to 3rd degree burns throughout his body with his clothing and hair burned off. A final female victim was reportedly treated for minor burns.
In total, the California Highway Patrol, Tustin Police Department, Irvine Police Department, CalTrans, Orange County Sheriff-Coroner, Care Ambulance Service (Units 6253, 6251, 6256, and 6506), and Orange County Fire Authority (Battalion 3; Engines 21, 26, 37, and 6; Medic 21, N1; and, Truck 43) all responded to assist in some capacity.
