Garden Grove Propane Explosion/Outhouse Fire - December 27th, 2016
At approximately 1:41 PM the Garden Grove Fire Department responded to reports of an explosion, reportedly of a propane tank, at 8605 Mac Kay Road in the city of Garden Grove. Engines arriving on scene found an outbuilding with smoke and fire showing and upgraded the fire to a working assignment. Grove Battalion 1 responded to take command and knockdown was achieved in a timely manner. The house appeared neglected and had signs of packrat conditions as seen in the photos. Neighbors reported pulling wood and trash away from the structure in order to assist firefighters in making entry.
No injuries to civilians or damage to any surrounding structures was reported. A fire investigator and city officials were summonsed to the scene.
An investigation is ongoing.
