Irvine Cut & Rescue Collision - December 8th, 2016
At approximately 9:00 PM the Orange County Fire Authority responded to reports of a two vehicle traffic collision in the eastbound lanes of Portola Parkway just south of Lambert Ranch Road involving a black Mercedez-Benz SUV and a white Chevrolet pick-up truck.
Firefighters arrived on scene and found the driver of the pick-up truck trapped inside, necessitating use of the Jaws of Life to extricate the man. Due to his injuries the man was then airlifted via Mercy Air Ambulance to an area trauma center in critical condition. The driver and passenger of the SUV, a mother and her child, were transported to Mission Hospital via ground ambulance in unknown condition.
The Irvine Police Department is conducting an investigation into the cause of the collision.
