Irvine Hit & Run Perimeter - April 7th, 2017
At approximately 3:30 AM Friday morning, the Irvine Police Department responded to a reported traffic collision near the intersection of Irvine Center Drive and Yale Avenue. Officers arriving on scene found a solo vehicle traffic collision involving a traffic control signal. No occupants from the vehicle could be immediately located prompting officers to canvas the area.
Nearly an hour later at approximately 4:20 AM, officers located a male believed to be involved in the collision near the Good Shepard Lutheran Church Preschool directly adjacent to where the collision occurred. The individual was placed into custody and evaluated by Orange County Fire Authority paramedics but not transported. He was later identified as Alex Campos of Los Angeles and arrested for, among other things, outstanding warrants stemming from charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and controlled substances, and previous charges of driving on a suspended license related to prior DUI charges.
Initial reports indicate the vehicle being registered out of Los Angeles and possibly 3 individuals inside however this could not be immediately confirmed. The Irvine Police Department is handling the investigation.
