Mission Viejo Vehicle Down Embankment - March 121th, 2017

At 11:16 PM the OCFA was dispatched to reports of a rollover traffic collision on the southbound I5 just south of La Paz Road. Units arriving on scene found a solo vehicle that had driven off the SB I5 down an embankment and into a flood control channel adjacent to the railroad tracks near the 25000 block of El Paseo in Mission Viejo. Initially, first responders were unable to locate the driver however after a short search he was found and transported by medics as a trauma. According to CHP officers on scene, a CHP officer attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle on the southbound I5 just south of La Paz Road and the driver simply drove off the road. It is unknown what the original reason for the stop was not immediately available. The CHP will be investigating.
