Newport Beach Brush Fire - June 13th, 2017

At 5:09 PM Tuesday evening, the Newport Beach Fire Department and surrounding agencies responded to reports of a vegetation fire at the Harbor View Nature Park near Pacific View and San Miguel drives in Newport Beach. Crews arriving on scene found an approximately 40 by 40 foot brush fire in the park with a moderate rate of spread threatening numerous structures that run adjacent to the park. Crews from the Orange County Fire Authority, Costa Mesa Fire Department, and Laguna Beach Fire Department assisted the Newport Beach Fire Department in containing the fire within approximately 45 minutes. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation. At least one individual was reportedly detained as an arson suspect. The Newport Beach Police Department will be handling the investigation.
