Santa Ana Parking Garage Fire - January 4th, 2017
At approximately 3:25 PM the Orange County Fire Authority responded to reports of a vehicle fire in a parking structure located at 405 West 5th Street in downtown Santa Ana. Engines arriving on scene found two well-involved vehicles with fire and smoke showing from the second story of the structure and quickly upgraded to a full working assignment. Using ladders for access, OCFA firefighters made access to the second story of the parking structure to begin a successful fire attack and primary search. Additionally, secondary searches were performed based on information that homeless often reside in the parking structure.
At this time, no injuries to firefighters or civilians have been reported injured. An estimate on the loss was not yet known and an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway. West 5th Street between North Ross Street and North Broadway was closed until further notice and owners were not immediately able to access vehicles left in the parking structure.
