Tustin: Freeway Trailer Fire
06.11.2020 | 12:15 PM | TUSTIN - A trailer filled with compacted trash being hauled along a freeway burst into flames causing a major traffic backup, Thursday afternoon.
Authorities responded to reports of a fire burning the northbound SR-55 Freeway just north of 17th Street around 12:15 PM.
Units arriving on scene located a bobtail truck that was hauling a trailer of compacted trash that caught fire.
The driver of the truck disconnected the trailer while firefighters responded and battled the flames.
Multiple lanes were closed and traffic was brought to a slow for hours as firefighters unloaded the trash on the freeway to ensure the fire was out.
The cause of the fire was not considered suspicious and no injuries were reported.
