Westminster: Fatal Crash Into Semi-Trailer
A man was dead after he crashed full-speed into a parked semi-trailer on the 405 freeway in Westminster, early Thursday morning.
Officials responded shortly before 1:00 AM to the northbound 405 freeway just north of Bolsa Avenue. Crews responding discovered a semi-truck hauling U.S. mail in a construction closure zone. A white Honda Accord sedan was lodged into the rear of the semi-trucks trailer.
Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to extricated the male passenger in the sedan within 30 minutes. The man treated on scene and transported to an area hospital in critical condition. He later succumbed to his injuries at an area hospital.
The circumstances leading up to the collision are under investigation by the California Highway Patrol - Westminster Office.
